Creating Supportive Pathways for Everyone
Our Mission
Mendocino County Safe Space Project works to increase resources, support, and safety for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer, Intersex, Asexual, Two-spirit, and other gender and sexual non-conforming people.
As a social impact not-for-profit organization our work enhances the well-being of all individuals, families, and communities by addressing systemic social and civic challenges.
We envision a Mendocino County where every person—regardless of gender and sexual identity—feels seen, supported, and safe. Through educational programs, local advocacy, and community support, we are building a future rooted in equity and belonging for all.

Cultural Humility: We are committed to honoring and trusting the lived experience of others by prioritizing self-reflection, deep listening, and lifelong learning.
Accessibility & Inclusion: We build programs that empower individuals from all backgrounds and abilities, integrating a flexible structure that meets the varying needs of diverse communities.
Intersectionality: We support the rights of people of all gender and sexual identities to feel safe, seen, and supported, and we acknowledge the ways that race, class, disability, nationality, body size, neurodivergence, housing, mental health, language, and other factors impact these rights.
Community Empowerment: We believe in the collective power of people to create meaningful change through education and advocacy.
Safety and Belonging: We work to reduce harm and increase well-being by creating and supporting spaces where LGBTQIA2S+ individuals can thrive.
Affirmation: We affirm the identities and truths of LGBTQIA2S+ individuals and advocate for practices that celebrate authenticity.
